Ultrasonic Spray of Quantum Dots
June 24, 2014
Precision deposition of quantum dots using ultrasonic nozzles for photovoltaics and displays.
The quantum dots market was projected to reach $5 billion by 2020. Cost of manufacturing and rate of adoption are some of the main challenges still facing the industry. Ultrasonic spray of quantum dots has successfully been used to deposit a variety of quantum dot materials. Both ZnO films and CdS quantum dots have been prepared using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition techniques.
As a widely used, inexpensive, versatile, large-scale production technique, spray pyrolysis has been used successfully to fabricate nano-structured CdS/CdSe thin films and TiOx/ZnO films using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition.
When compared to chemical vapor deposition and sputtering, ultrasonic spray technology is a lower-cost alternative and is potentially scalable for industrialization, making it an attractive option for manufacturers seeking high-throughput quantum dot deposition.
