ULTRASONIC NOZZLE

MicroStream™ Nozzle

The MicroStream™ Ultrasonic Nozzle is a dual-fluid atomization platform engineered to generate ultra-narrow, focused droplet streams for high-precision coating and aerosol delivery. By combining a coaxial gas stream with an annular liquid path, this nozzle achieves efficient entrainment and directional focusing of atomized droplets, making it ideal for micro-scale film deposition.

How This Ultrasonic Spray Nozzle Works

The MicroStream™ system incorporates two coaxial fluid paths: an internal gas conduit (cannula) that delivers a central laminar air stream, and an outer annular channel for liquid delivery. Atomization occurs at the ultrasonic nozzle tip, where high-frequency vibrations break up the fluid into uniformly sized droplets. The central gas flow entrains these droplets, compressing them into a focused spray column with widths as narrow as 0.007 inches (0.178 mm), depending on flow rate, power, and fluid properties. Independent adjustment of gas and liquid flows allows precise tuning of spray focus and deposition rate. The same two paths can also carry two liquids: the nozzle atomizes both, and if desired they are mixed at the last instant on the nozzle tip.
