The Challenge
Auto-injectors demand exacting siliconization to ensure uniform lubrication of cartridge interiors. Traditional methods — dip coating, air spray, or solvent-based flooding — result in uneven coverage, sagging, pooling, and bubble formation that compromise plunger glide force, dose delivery accuracy, and product shelf-life stability. Liveo 366 35% GLP-1 and similar medical-grade silicone fluids are especially prone to inconsistent deposition at low coating weights.
Our Solution
MicroSpray ultrasonic nozzles deliver finely atomized droplets of Liveo 366 35% GLP-1 (Dow Corning 360 Medical Fluid, 1000 cSt) deep into the narrow geometry of auto-injector barrels and cartridges. The airless, low-velocity spray eliminates blow-back while acoustic atomization produces the precise droplet size distribution needed for thin, homogeneous silicone films at coating weights from 0.1 to 2.0 mg/cm². The system is equally compatible with Liveo 366 35% Dimethicone NF Emulsion, Kolliphor HS 15, Kolliphor ELP, and other non-ionic medical surfactants. Custom formulation compatibility can be evaluated on request.
About Liveo™ 35% Medical Fluids
Liveo™ 35% Medical Fluids (such as Liveo™ 365 and Liveo™ 366) are water-dilutable emulsions containing nonionic emulsifiers and 35% NF-grade Dimethicone. They are widely used as hydrophobic lubricants for medical devices, parenteral containers, and for siliconizing glass syringes, metals, and plastics. These silicone-based emulsions are specifically engineered to provide excellent lubrication, release characteristics, and form a stable hydrophobic film. Common applications include the lubrication of catheter guidewires, syringe barrels, and medical device cutting edges.
