Spray Fluxing

Ultrasonic spray fluxing for wave and selective soldering — precise, repeatable flux deposition on PCBs that eliminates the overspray, clogging, and residue problems of foam fluxers and pressure spray heads.

The Challenge

Wave and selective soldering depend on a thin, uniform layer of flux across the bottom of the board — too little causes solder defects like bridging and skips, too much leaves corrosive residue and flux spatter inside the machine. Foam fluxers waste flux and drift out of spec as solvent evaporates. Conventional pressure spray fluxers atomize with high air pressure, producing overspray that coats conveyor fingers and pallets, and their fine orifices clog on low-solids no-clean fluxes.

Our Solution

MicroSpray ultrasonic nozzles atomize flux with a vibrating tip instead of high-pressure air, producing a soft, low-velocity mist that lands only where it is aimed. Deposition is metered by the liquid feed rate, so the flux load per board is set digitally and stays constant run after run — no density drift, no operator adjustment. The large flow passage and self-cleaning vibrating surface run low-solids, no-clean, VOC-free, and rosin-based fluxes for weeks without clogging.

Why Ultrasonic Spray?

  • ✓Uniform, repeatable flux coverage across the full board width
  • ✓Flux load controlled by pump feed rate — consistent solder joints, less rework
  • ✓Minimal overspray keeps conveyor fingers, pallets, and machine interiors clean
  • ✓Up to 80% less flux consumption compared to foam fluxing
  • ✓Handles low-solids no-clean, VOC-free, water-based, and rosin fluxes without clogging
  • ✓Less residue on the board — supports no-clean processes and reduces cleaning steps
  • ✓Targeted deposition for selective soldering of mixed-technology boards
  • ✓Retrofits into existing wave solder and selective solder machines
  • ✓No compressed-air atomization — quieter and lower operating cost
